The Vermont Coalition for Whole Health Blog

In April, Friends of Recovery - Vermont was among the eight winners of a BRSS-TACS Peer Run Organization/Recovery Community Organization Award and as a result, has created a new blog to discuss current issues within the health care reform movement. Floyd Nease (VAMHAR), Patty McCarthy Metcalf (FORVT), and Linda Corey (VPS) will provide weekly updates on mental health and addiction in healthcare reform.

Charged with creating a statewide learning network and community that links peer-run organizations and recovery community organizations with Vermont Health Care Reform resources and information, The Vermont Coalition for Whole Health Blog will offer insight into statewide conversations and initiatives that affect us all.

Spotlight on Recovery

The New Vermont Recovery Coach Training

is Coming Soon!

We have spent several months developing a NEW curriculum for training peer recovery coaches.  This 5-day training program now includes much more time for participants to practice coaching using "life coaching" tools and techniques.

Through a collaborative effort with the Vermont Psychiatric Survivors, the entire program has been designed to be appropriate for both addiction and mental health peers.  The expanded components include medication assisted recovery, ethical decision-making process, cultural competency, and the impact of trauma on recovery.

Also,  graduates will now leave the training with hands-on experience opening and closing a coaching meeting, coaching through resistance and celebrating successes in the coaching relationship.
